Digital teaching competence (DTC) is currently one of the most requested competencies for teacher profiles in our educational schools. To develop this competence, however, teachers and educational schools need to adopt digital technological resources. In this way, it will be possible to help students to acquire the basic skills that are considered necessary to grow up in the context in which they live.
The main objective of this article is to acquire a better knowledge of the role of DTC in the process of adopting digital technological resources in educational schools. The findings from this article come from the research carried out in the Doctoral Thesis: “The adoption of digital technological resources in Education: facilitating factors and limiting factors”. The methodology used follows a qualitative-quantitative-quality process, which has led to the creation of two focus groups with experts in technology and education and a Likert questionnaire answered by a sample of 455 teachers in Catalonia. One of the conclusions of the research has been to place DTC among the facilitating factors, identifying it as one of the key elements when adopting digital technology resources in educational schools.
